How to recognise the work

Colour, closed eyes and imagined companions

Large-eyed or closed-eyed girls, birds, dragons and small surrounding figures appear within fluid, highly coloured compositions.

  • Girls with closed eyes
  • Birds and dragons
  • Saturated colour
  • Dreamlike scenes

A world built through recurring figures

Julieta’s girls shift between fairy tale, humour and darker moods, often joined by birds or dragons. Their closed eyes make the scenes feel inward-looking even at mural scale.

Drawing led by colour and line

Colour, line and illustration carry the storytelling. Smaller figures and organic details can gather around a central character, producing an image that rewards both a distant view and close reading.

Valencia as a starting point

Born and trained in Valencia, Julia Silla has focused on public mural interventions since 2004, with local streets and programmes forming one chapter of a practice that has travelled internationally.
