How to recognise the work

Bold colour, humour and direct social storytelling

Flat saturated colour, chunky hand-drawn forms and expressive characters deliver ideas with energy before irony complicates the scene.

Two illustrators, one shared visual world

Cachetejack is the collaborative practice of Nuria Bellver and Raquel Fanjul. They began working together in 2011 after meeting during their Fine Arts studies in Valencia.

The duo’s shared authorship supports a recognisable world of bold figures, compressed spaces and direct visual rhythm.

Colour first, irony close behind

Bright colour and apparently simple forms make Cachetejack’s images immediately inviting. Humour and irony then shift how characters, gestures and social situations are read.

Their hand-drawn approach remains visible whether the final surface is a page, garment, object or architectural wall.

A mural presence in Valencia

The mural documented on Carrer de la Beneficència places the duo’s orange, purple and black characters directly into the textured streetscape of El Carme.

Its scale changes the encounter, but the broad shapes, animated faces and playful tension remain closely connected to Cachetejack’s illustration practice.
